Here’s another chance to see our guest poet Linda Marshall ’s brilliant set from that night.’
Headline poet – Linda Marshall
Soundbites is delighted to have Linda Marshall as our guest poet for September. Linda Marshall has had two collections of poetry published, Brakken City (Fighting Cock Press, 1997) and Half-Moon Glasses (Flux Gallery Press, 2009). For many years she was co-editor of Aireings poetry magazine. In 2012 she received a commission to write a poem in celebration of the centenary of Cottage Road Cinema, and in 2013 she took part in the Leeds Lieder event, working with a composer to create a song-poem. Linda has also written a series of poems – interpretations of Lilliane Gosling’s Theyyam paintings, and she collaborated in a joint exhibition with the artist at Trinity Church in Leeds City Centre.
A onetime member of Pennine Poets, she is now involved with Lucht Focail, a group of Irish writers, and has taken part in many readings in and around Leeds. Her poems have been published in the Otley Word Feast anthologies and recently on Heartlines website.
Considered a bard of Headingley, she has had poems displayed in local cafés. She is looking forward to the publication of her new poetry collection, Cloud Cuckoo Café by Yaffle Press.
